“You tell a story through a cake”

The sumptuous Tribeca-selected documentary Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles sees the renowned chef and author of books such as Jerusalem and Plenty turn his multi-talented eye to a new challenge: making cakes worthy of the Met. In the summer of 2018, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York enlisted Ottolenghi to lead a culinary gala inspired by the exhibit “Visitors to Versailles.” Assembling a veritable Avengers of the dessert world including Dominque Ansel and Dinara Kasko, Ottolenghi and his innovative team battle intense time pressure as they bring their decadent, Versailles-inspired dessert vision alive.
