“A year is a long time especially at your age”

One afternoon each week, 16 year-old Billie (Tilda Cobham-Hervey, I Am Woman) meets her co-parent (Del Herbert-Jane) to share – or not share – what’s going on in their lives while they live apart. As Billie builds relationships and documents her social experiments on film, her parent is undergoing gender transition to James and reimagining their life. The critically acclaimed debut feature of Australian director Sophie Hyde (Animals), 52 Tuesdays was filmed over the course of a year with the actors only given their scenes week to week. It won the World Cinema Dramatic Directing Award at Sundance and the Crystal Bear at the Berlinale.

★★★★ “A highly original drama about the darker side of teen sexuality and self-perception with bracingly authentic performances” — Time Out
