Oscar-winning director Taika Waititi’s _Hunt for the Wilderpeople_ stars Julian Dennison as Ricky, a bolshy city kid who is banished to the wilderness by child welfare services. There he lives with his foster Aunt Bella (Rime Te Wiata) and Uncle Hec (Sam Neill), until Bella passes away and he’s about to be shuffled back to the next foster home. Uncle Hec, a beligerant grump, isn’t having any of it, and he and Ricky go rogue into the bush, setting off a national manhunt. On the surface it may read ‘kid movie’ but let us assure you, with humour and heart in spades, it has plenty to offer adults as well.
